mise bootstrap status

Show the state of every configured bootstrap part

Lists secret inputs, packages, accounts, files and directories, services, the firewall, Compose projects, repositories, dotfiles, shell activation, macOS defaults, LaunchAgents, systemd user units, the login shell, [tools], and the system dependencies of those tools, without changing anything. Checking dotfiles can render trusted templates, which may run exec().

--missing exits with status 1 if anything differs from the config; it still lists every entry.

Flags

• -J --json — Output in JSON format
• --missing — Exit with status 1 if anything differs from the config (all entries are still listed)
• --prompt-secrets — Prompt securely for missing bootstrap secret inputs
• -h --help — Print help

Examples

List every configured part and its state

mise bootstrap status

Exit with status 1 if anything differs from the config
